I get a message "DotDefender blocked this request" when I try to save some edits I made to a page. Why?

General

DotDefender Block

Due to tightened security measures that prevent web attackers from harming your pages and data, you occasionally may be blocked by our special firewall.

If you get a message like the one at right, simply copy and paste the reference number into an email and send to: Campusuite Support. We can get all the information we need from this reference number and then fix the issue for you. We'll then email you back and have you try to make your update again.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but these measures have been put into place due to the high-rate of web site attacks. These attacks are growing greater each day and you will likely see more blocking firewalls on the internet put into use. We do this to help keep YOUR web site secure.

Here are some common examples that would make your edits get blocked. Remember, sometimes, you may need to flip to the "source" view in order to see the offending mark-up:

1. Path traversal
You cannot have this in your code. Instead, simply use one slash in front of any links. (ex. /)

../../../

2. Pasting content directly from Microsoft Word
Pasting from Word can bring in invisible mark-up that looks like this. BE SURE to use the Paste as text icon (at right)

<meta content="text/html; http-equiv="Content-Type" />
<meta content="Word.Document" name="ProgId" />
<meta content="Microsoft Word 11" name="Generator" />
<meta content="Microsoft Word 11" name="Originator" />
<link href="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\jason\LOCALS~1\Temp\" />
<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>
 <o:OfficeDocumentSettings>
  <o:PixelsPerInch>72</o:PixelsPerInch>
  <o:TargetScreenSize>544x376</o:TargetScreenSize>
 </o:OfficeDocumentSettings>
</xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>
 <w:WordDocument>

There could be a number of reasons your content is blocked. In ALL cases, simply email Innersync the reference number so that we can investigate and help get you going again.
